Skincare Tips for Colder Months
It's that time of the year where the air has become more dry and more brisk. Combine that with strong gusts of wind and your poor skin is screaming for love all season. But I've come up with a few tips that will keep dry, dull skin at bay!
Step 1: Turn the Heat Down
The thought of a steamy, hot shower after being in the cold weather makes my soul smile. And I like it hot hot! But I learned as good as it feels, that piping hot water was drying my skin out. Not sure if your water is too hot? When you get out of the shower or tub, does your skin feel tight? If you answered yes, please make that water a little cooler.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliate! Remove all that dead, dull skin. It’s holding you back from your glow. You can use a body scrub — they have all kinds of scrubs, research which one would work best for your skin – or you can use an African net sponge instead of your towel about 3 times a week. With either option, be sure you aren’t rubbing too hard as this can cause damage to your skin.
Step 3: Buttah Yo Body
As soon as you get out of your tub and dry off, it’s time to add some buttah to your body. Doing this right after your shower/bath helps lock in moisture. I love to lather my body in MoringaButtah after I get out of the tub. If you don’t do any of the other steps in this blog, DO THIS ONE. Your skin will be soft and smooth when you wake up in the morning.
Step 4: Slow Down
Stop rushing your skincare routine. Take your time and really work the product into your skin. All of our buttahs are made with natural ingredients to help nurture your skin. You really want it to go to waste? Take this time to get in tune with yourself — say some positive affirmations,
Step 5: Slow Down
Drink ya water ladies + gentlemen. Our bodies are made up of 60% water — please make sure you’re giving it the proper hydration. It should be the first thing you drink when you wake up. And if you’re really about it, warm that water up and add some lime slices for skin rejuvenation, antioxidants and to help aid with digestion 😁
Step 6: You Are What You Eat
It may be cliche, but it’s also very true. I can remember my nana telling me I wouldn’t be able to eat all the junk I was eating as I got older. “Your body changes,” she would say. She was right - as much as I love snacking on junk, it surely does not love me. Think about what you’re putting into your body daily – are you feeding your body with nutritious choices? Are you eating foods that are good for you? Now, I’m not telling you stop eating all your favorite foods, but start incorporating healthier options into your diet. Not sure where to start?
